Club visit: Abernyte, September 2013
In excellent late summer weather, seven MGs headed for the Abernyte Antique Centre, near Perth.
Drum Castle Event, August 11 2013
Our second annual day at Drum Castle. Weather was mainly good, with just a few light showers. Cindy Douglas and her trio provided a splendid musical background. Trophies were awarded to the best cars on display in several categories. The many people who attended seemed to have a great time.
Solstice Run, June 22 2013
Our annual attempt to celebrate the summer solstice. As usual the weather worked against us, so the view from the high point at Cairn o'Mount was of grey mist. But the run was fun; we had a quiz to solve, with the answers to be spotted at the roadside, and an enjoyable pub supper at the Ramsay Arms in Fettercairn.
Gathering of the Clans, May 12, 2013
Stirling MGOC organized a pan-Scotland trip to the Falkirk Wheel to celebrate their club's 40th birthday. Rainy weather meant that numbers attending were lower than expected, but the Aberdeen MGOC mustered seven cars, which gathered at Stirling and processed to the Falkirk Wheel. After refreshments and a birthday cake, we embarked on a boat trip to explore the wheel and its adjacent canal.
Drive-It Day, April 2013
A national, annual event, Drive-it Day is organized centrally by the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs, with local runs of vintage cars across the UK. In Aberdeen, the MG Owners' Club was represented by several members who joined the procession from Aberdeen Beach to Fyvie Castle, with a coffee break at a garden centre in Mintlaw.
Drum Castle Event, August 19, 2012
Our first-ever Annual Event at Drum Castle. Over 60 cars registered for the display, and the sun shone brilliantly to welcome our guests. We even had an overspill area for the latest arrivals, since there were a few too many cars for the main display arena. Cindy Douglas and her band provided great background music, a hog-roast kept our guests well fed, and the trophy winners returned home well pleased.
Stanley Mills, Perthshire, July 2012
A day trip to the former cotton mills on the River Tay, now a fascinating museum.
